The Book of Job is all about God’s mercy and compassion. It is all about the love, the kindness, and the undeserved favour of God. The Book of Job is all about good news or the gospel. This might seem paradoxical and surprising. It seems so full of ‘bad news’. Yet God is in control of all historical facts and events. He governs them all, and even when they seem paradoxical and confusing to us (as to Job) they belong to the wise plans of our sovereign God.

Peter Bloomfield taught at several High Schools in Australia for eight years, then completed a B.D.Hons. degree which led to ordination in the Presbyterian Church of Eastern Australia in 1982. In 1990 he accepted the call of the Bald Hills Presbyterian Church, North Brisbane, where he still serves. He is married to Lesley and has two daughters and three grandchildren.
