For the last five years the World Council of Churches Faith and Order Commission has been circulating a study-document entitled Baptistm, Eucharist and Ministry. 350,000 copies have been circulated, in thirty-five different languages! The Commission's Annual Meeting in 1989 is to finalize the teaching in that document.

While in no way a response to that document, this pocket book does present New Testament teaching on the relationship between baptism, communion and church life from an evangelical standpoint. The author shows that an acceptance of the authority of Christ, through Scripture, leads to a definite pattern of church order...

Converted as a teenager in early 1950s, Peter Naylor has spent twenty-five years as a Baptist minister, and is now pastor of the Tabernacle Baptist church, Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, U.K.
